The much anticipated 5th edition of the NSSF KAMPALA Hash Run which was due to take place on March 22nd has today been postponed due to the threat of coronavirus which has been ravaging countries across the globe.
Although Uganda is yet to register a case, all neighboring countries already have registered cases and this evening the president H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni banned public gatherings and closed several institutions including schools and places of worship.
The Managing Director of NSSF Mr. Richard Byarugaba in a communication sent to the pubic said the decision was taken as a precaution and that a new date will be set and communicated in the near future.
The run is organized every year to help public schools under KCA and other parts of the country. Below is the full statement by NSSF;
We regret to announce the postponement of the 5th Edition of the NSS Kampala Has 7 Hills Run, a Charity event aimed at mobilizing funds for improving learning conditions in public schools. This was scheduled to take place on March 22, 2020.
It will now take place at a date to be announced in the near future. All corporate and individual registrations remain valid and are free to participate at no additional cost.
The safety our participants, partners, suppliers and staff is top priority. The run is characterized by a mass gathering. The decision to postpone the Run is a precaution in view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic that has now spread to most of Uganda’s neighboring countries.
We are indebted to our esteemed partners and individual participants who have contributed generously towards the success of this noble cause to improve leaning conditions in public schools. You are the Front Runners.
