Some days after he was hospitalised, some Tanzanian opposition politicians spread some rumours that the country’s President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli (now deceased) had allegedly contracted the Covid19.
The rumours that he lost his dear life to the disease on Wednesday evening the 17th of March are still spreading like wildfire although there is no confirmation that it is the cause of death.
The news about his death was all over social media last night after confirmation by his vice president H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Although she didn’t say the real cause of death, Samia made it known my many that the President had suffered from chronic atrial fibrillation for more than a decade and it is believed Magufuli, 61 lost the battle to it three weeks after hospitalization.
“It is with deep regret that I inform you that today… we lost our brave leader, the president of the Republic of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli,” Vice-President Hassan said in announcement.
She also said that there will be a fortnight of national mourning where all flags will fly at half-mast.

Magufuli was last seen in public on 27th February and from that day, information about his health status was kept as a top secret but the country’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa insisted last week that the president was healthy and working hard until last night when was announced dead.
