Last year, the inaugural Kampala Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run took place at the Torino Bar and Restaurant. It made a grand entrance onto the Kampala social scene as it attracted a big number of fun-loving and sporty party goers who stormed the event in style for successful debut.
A year later, the wait is finally over as the fun run is back with a bang with the second edition scheduled for Sunday June 2, 2019.
The announcement for the much anticipated fun run was made yesterday by event organisers Brand 7D at a press conference held at Torino Bar and Restaurant.
According to Mr Ronald Kivumbi the CEO Brand 7D, new items have been added onto the menu to spice up this year’s edition including a longer route, more fun activities for participants and a star-studded lineup of artistes to perform at the after party.
This year round, the route will be three kilometers up from the two kilometers participants did last year although they will still be following almost the same directions and flow.
The flag-off is planned for 7pm, and the start and end points have been retained at Torino Bar and Restaurant as was the case in 2018. Also returning this year are the glow accessories which captured the imagination at the inaugural event, with a well-lit route completing the Lite the Way theme of main sponsors Tusker Lite.
“The Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run is going to be bigger and better because we have a longer route, the glows are fancier, the artists and DJS are on top of their game and security reinforcements are definitely guaranteed for all participants,” said Ronald Kivumbi, CEO Brand 7D.
Torino Bar and restaurant which will be the flag-off point will then be converted into a neon party venue for the mega after- party when the run is done courtesy of Machachos the new partners.
“We are really excited about the return of the Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run. It was huge last year and we are looking forward to bringing friends together yet again to break a sweat while having fun at the same time,” said CathyTwesigye, UBL Brand Manager, Premium Beers.
Some of the prizes lined up for different categories include those for the shortest time to reach the finish line, first runner-up, second runner-up, the most creative runner, most stylish runner, most “lit” runner and the best squad. All participants will also receive 2 bottles of free Tusker Lite beers after finishing the race.
To turn up the temperature, runners will be ushered into a night of top class entertainment with performances from artistes Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi, Hit Nature, Pallaso, Grenade and dope surprise disc spinners in Kampala.
Registration for the fun run is at Shs20,000 which comes with the kit and tickets are on sale at Torino Bar, Definition and all Funs Videos outlets.
