The long awaited moment is here after a painful 38 years of waiting to play in a highly recognized competition finally we are there. Uganda last night was pitted in group D to face Egypt, Mali and Ghana the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations due next year in Gabon.
On paper, we are already out of the competition because the opponents we are facing have firsthand experience in this specific competition and are highly ranked than Uganda.
Among our opponents, it’s Ghana that we have played the most and chances are, we can give them a run for their money but record time African cup holders Egypt have always given us a hard time to play against in all the previous times we have faced them.
The draws were taken inside the ASMG Tent in Stade De’ L’Amitie Arena in Benin and had all the sixteen countries represented by their respective football coaches with our very own head coach Milutin Micho Sredejovic as well as Omara Apitta, the Commissioner in the Ministry of Educations and Sports in attendance.
