The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) received Ug Shs 60 million from the National Cultural Forum (NCF) which is an art and culture organisation that represents artistes at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
Veteran singer Ragga Dee real name Daniel Kazibwe is the current chairman of this organisation (NCF).
On Monday the 16th of August, a post on UMA’s Facebook page which was accompanied by a photo of UMA’s president singer Cindy Sanyu and the treasurer singer Big Eye holding the dummy cheque read that the association received Ug Shs 60 million from NCF.
“Today 16/8/2021, UMA president Cindy Sanyu and UMA treasure Big Eye have received 60m shillings check from NCF (National cultural forum) this morning for capacity building. Its a good day for UMA”, Read a post on UMA’s Facebook Page.
Excited Cindy in her capacity as president also took to her official Facebook page to share the news about receiving these millions.

Meanwhile, UMA, represented by Cindy and a few other members is one of the group of artistes that attended the recent two weeks retreat organised by the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) head, General Salim Saleh in Gulu City recently.
The meeting with Saleh which many people perceived as one this group of artistes used to go beg for handouts from government was used to discuss ways on how the creative industry will be managed during the COVID-19 pandemic and going forward.
UMA was established in 2017 with a vision of professionalizing the entertainment industry.
One of the founders of this association is veteran singer Jose Chameleone who surprisingly, a few weeks before the Gulu meeting, started a parallel musicians association to UMA named United Musicians Superstars Association.(UMSA)
