Ugandan supermodel Aamito Lagum who recently walked the runway at the Kanye West’s fashion line at Madison Square Garden, fell victim to racist slurs when MAC cosmetics shared a photo of her lips.
The former Africa’s next top model winner took to Instagram to fight back against the slurs by sharing an illustration of her lips and captioned it, “My lips giving you sleepless nights.”

Mac Cosmetics responded to the racist slurs saying,
“MAC stands for and respects all ages, all races, all sexes. We celebrate the beauty of individuality, and the confidence to be who you are.”
Currently, several ladies have joined in on the action on sharing their lips on their social media accounts using the hashtag #PrettyLipsPeriod The campaign is aimed at fighting discriminatory beauty standards.
According to Huffington post the team behind Pretty.Period founded in reaction to the ‘compliment’ “You’re pretty for a dark-skinned girl.”
Pretty.Period further went to say,
“No need to address the racist trolls,” they wrote on Instagram.
“What we will do is show our sister some love!
“[Lagum] is stunning! Hers are #PrettyLipsPeriod. Turn the photo horizontally, and her lips literally form the shape of a heart.”
