Right from the auditions for the inaugural East Africa’s got Talent competition which was held in Nairobi, Kenya, 14-year-old and 11-year-old Esther and Ezekiel have been showcasing unmatched singing and vocal ability.
The very 1st time they took to the main stage to perform live, they left the crowd and the panel of four judges namely Gaetano Kagwa, Jeff Koinange, Vanessa Mdee and Makeda Mahadeo asking for more as they performed American gospel singer Alexandra Burke’s ‘Hallelujah’ song
Their candle of impression kept burning all through until they were announced winners on Sunday the 6th of October at the grand finale, beating Rwandan cultural troupe Intayoberana to the US Dollars 50,000 grand prize (Ug Shs 184,690,000)
From Sunday the two youngsters have been trending on social media with social media users passing on their congratulatory messages and heaping lots of praises to Esther and Ezekiel who are children to renowned gospel singer Julie Mutesasira.
“My grandchildren have told me about our talented bazukulu Esther and Ezekiel, who have won an East African Talent competition this evening. I am told they are very good singers. I congratulate them”. President Museveni Tweeted
Meanwhile, as we celebrate Esther and Ezekiel over raising the Uganda flag high, athletes Halima Nakayi and Joshua Cheptegei made Uganda shine by winning the women’s 800m and men’s 10,000m races respectively at the 2019 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) tournament in Doha, Qatar
