The wins and records just keep dropping for Uganda as national stars Joshua Cheptegei and 19-year old youngster Joseph Kiplimo keep raising the flag higher and higher with incredible runs on the international scene.
Kiplimo won the #WorldHalfMarathon title in a championship record of 58:49 with
Kenya’s Kibiwott Kandie winning silver in 58:54 and bronze going to Ethiopia’s Amedework Walelegn in 59:08.
The youngster stunned a star-studded field of senior athletes to win in impressive fashion at the Gdynia Poland. He becomes the first Ugandan to win at this Championships and the second teenager to achieve the feat while compatriot 10,000-meter world record holder Joshua Cheptegei finished fourth with a personal best of 59:21.
That win gave Kiplimo $30,000 in prize money while team Uganda (men) sealed their participation with $9,000 for finishing third.
