Ugandan RnB singer Angella Katatumba has been doing many great things for this country with her charity drives and community based initiatives. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed as she was invited under her charity Organisation The Angella Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) to attend the FIRST ever World Humanitarian Summit.
The talented “Mulago Yaffe” singer was invited through an enclosed e-mail by the Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian and Emergency Relief Coordinator; Mr Stephen O’Brien invited which is slated for 23rd and 24th May 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey.
This comes after Katatumba through her NGO The Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) on 16th January 2016, handed over a cheque worth 10 million to Mulago intensive care unit to purchase a Phototherapy Machine and Syringe pump under the Mulago Yaffe campaign.The money was used to buy a Phototherapy Machine and Syringe Pump.
The machines were delivered by Crown Health Care Limited a few weeks later and have since been helping to save the lives of about 60 premature babies born with skin complications per week.
The World Humanitarian Summit which is an initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be held at the highest level to reaffirm the shared responsibility to humanity, and to agree to a concrete set of actions to enable all stakeholders – including leaders of governments, humanitarian organizations, affected populations, and the private sector, to better prepare for and respond to humanitarian crises.
