The organizing committee of the Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Causes Convention explained why they chose to hire Nigerian and Tanzanian artistes Rudeboy and Harmonize as the main headliners of this year’s edition which took place from 3rd to 6th at Fontainebleau Oceanfront Resort located in Miami, U.S.A
According to a statement from UNAA Causes committee, they decided to hire these artistes because of visa restrictions caused by the American Embassy in Kampala, Uganda.
“Operations at the US Embassy in Kampala regarding Visa interviews have stalled since early June leading to a tricky situation regarding Ugandan artistes and therefore causing an urgent need for organizers of different conventions to alter programs,” a statement from UNAA read.
Some Ugandan entertainers that managed to perform at this convention were Pastor Wilson Bugembe, comedians Madrat and Chicco
Ugandan performers that are based in America including Ronnie Banton, General Mega Dee, Kapalaga Baibe, Vampino, Karim Sava and Rude Boy Devo also showcased.
UNAA is the largest non-political formal association of Ugandans living in the Diaspora that aims at promoting the social, cultural and economic development of the Ugandan Community in North America and beyond.
The Ugandan Community in North America numbers over 120,000 individuals.
