Veteran Singer Rachel Magoola Endorses Ykee Benda’s Cover To Her Song “Obangaina”

Afrigo Band’s veteran singer Rachel Magoola endorsed singer Ykee Benda’s cover to her 1999 hit song titled “Obangaina” saying he sung it well.

This song whose official music video is out as well, is one of the 17 that feature on Benda’s “Kirabo” album that was released a few weeks ago.

Speaking on NBS TV’s “After 5” show on Thursday evening , Magoola said she is happy with the cover because she was involved in its production at Mpaka Records which is a record label owned by Ykee Benda.

“I was part of the creation of this song, I kept correcting and listening to it before it was released. I’m so proud of him because he is a young humble man and I wish him well,” she said.

The song has so far received encouraging reception by the fans and different music critics.

Through his official his social media platforms, Benda thanked Magoola for allowing him redo the song and supervise its production because it was one of his favorite songs during his childhood days.

“I’m happy that you supervised the creation of this song until we reached the standards that you wanted , i wouldn’t release it if you had not loved what I did with the song because I respect your art so much & that’s why i made sure u supervise it yourself,” He posted of social media.

Much as many people have embraced the song, some people feel like Ykee didn’t do justice to it like Radio Sapienta’s music scheduler Selector Williams who said that Benda did not redo the song well, sighting that Magoola’s original version is far better than Benda’s

“Benda rushed the project. When I listen to the song, I can see that he hurried to release the song and it lacks quality in terms of production,” He said on entertainment news show “Uncut” that airs on NBS TV daily.
