Victoria Gospel Awards (VIGA) Return To Celebrate Gospel Music

Hip Hop music has Hip Hop Awards, the teens have Buzz Teeniez Awards, Deejays have the Deejay Awards while others fall in HiPipo and Zzina awards.

Gospel artistes were mostly represented by Victoria Gospel Awards (VIGA) Awards but they have been on and off and this demotivated them somehow. However, after a few changes done, the awards are back and promise to be bigger and better according to Shadrack Kutesa, the Chief Operation officer of the awards.

Shadrack said that after complaints from the public, everything is on the right path starting with this year’s edition. He also added that they have revised everything from nominees to the production.

This seems to be the case because looking at the nomination list, at least, the categories are balancing.

Singer Levixone whose ‘Turn The Replay’ song has enjoyed a massive crossover acceptance in gospel and secular circles, has been nominated in the categories of ‘Male Artiste Of The Year’ and ‘Video Of The Year’.

Other tight categories include ‘Male Artiste Of The Year’ which has Levixone, Brian Lubega, Martin Sseku, Johnmarie, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, and Dangello. In the ‘Female Artist Of The Year’ category, Sarah Serumaga will be up against Zabbuli, Sandra Ssuubi, Justine Nabbosa, Joy Tendo and Juliet Meeme.

The ‘Video Of The Year’, Levixone’s ‘Turn The Replay’ is nominated alongside Copy Bly and Robin San’s ‘Unstoppable’, Pastor Bugembe and Rhoda K’s ‘Miracle’, ‘Kankwebaze’ by New Chapter Africa, ‘Teri Dogo’ by Exodus and ‘Nsiimye’ by Sandra Ssuubi.

‘Hip Hop/Rap Song/Artist Of The Year’ has nominees like Edwin Ruyonga’s ‘Remunant’, Lyrical Michael’s ‘Kati Nzize’, Radney’s ‘Pull Up’, Gaga Magoo’s ‘Stand Up’ and St Ronnie’s ‘Alaba’.
