The exodus of presenters at WBS Television station still continues and this time round, it’s in the sports department as Web Daniel Ssebakigye was also snatched from them a few days back. He was the only credible sports presenter the station had after the departure of the then trio of Allan Ssekamatte, Mark Ssali and Joseph Kabuleta who also opted to join the Kamwokya based station NBS TV.
The three had been some of the longest serving members of staff at WBS behind the Sport On program and were shortly replaced by Ssebakigye himself for a few weeks until he also decided to join them at NBS TV.
“Today I leave WBS with my head up and I thank Prof Gordon Wavamunno for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow from all these years. I’m officially joining NBS TV starting 15th Aug 2016. I joined WBS at the end of 2011 as a young man who knew little about manhood and totally nothing about TV or media. WBS TV discovered, trained and natured me into the man I am today. They gave me my first shot at TV. I made mistakes every day, they tolerated and polished my mistakes and helped me grow and learn.” Web’s statement read.
He also added that, everything he knows about presentation is because of WBS TV which has also made him the most ‘relevant and diverse’ sports guy on TV, because he can present, edit, do graphics, report, analyze, anchor and produce both in Luganda and English.
Web Daniel’s switch to the rivals further cements the ongoing rumour that Kin Kaliisa of NBS bought off WBS TV although both parties are still tight-lipped about the subject.
