Dancehall artiste and prominent member of the dynamic duo Goodlyf Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel explained why he decided to quit school for music.
The artiste said music is the only career that makes more money than any other job.
“When I was in my senior 4, I asked my big brother Humphrey how much a Doctor earns in a month because that is the career I wanted from childhood and he told me 5million shs and when I calculated how much an artiste would make in a month, I realised that music would actually double the doctors salary and that is when I quit school for music,” he said.
He also added that his decision didn’t pay off immediately as he used to make little money while upcoming but achieved his goal afterwards.
“I have to admit the decision didn’t pay off in the beginning but with determination and hard work, I was able to achieve my goal. Right now, I’m able to make 15million and more in a month, tripling the money my dream career makes a month.”
Weasel is among the successful Mayanja artistes who didn’t finish school including Joseph Mayanja also known as Chameleon, Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso and the late AK47.
However, the artiste advised the youths out there that his luck might not be their luck.
“I was lucky but you might not be lucky. My talent is music but your talent might be in farming or teaching. So don’t do as I do. Finish school and the rest will follow,” he concluded.
