Why Bobi Wine Rejected 20m Given To MPs To Fight Coronavirus

As the debate on whether the money Ugandan members of parliament allocated to themselves is really necessary rages on, Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also known
as Bobi Wine has come clear and rejected the money.

The singer, turned politician in a long Facebook post explained the reasons why he thinks it is not right for
the legislators to give themselves UGXX10 billion from a supplementary budget, with each pocketing
UGX20million to allegedly fight the deadly Coronavirus in their restive constituencies.

It has been reported that the money is to help facilitate the MPs in the fight against the deadly pandemic, yet the country has a national task force with several other district task forces doing the same job.

The Politician who recently sang a song titled ‘Coronavirus Alert’ to add his voice in the fightr eiterated;

“We reject the notion that this money was meant to enable Members of Parliament carry out their roles in this period”.

The youthful legislator, who also wants to become the next president of Uganda, has vowed to return the money as soon as it hits his bank account stated;

“Let me clarify that I have not received this money. Should it be deposited on my account, I will immediately order my bank to return it to the Consolidated Fund and demand that it is put to its
proper purpose”.

”As we have repeatedly said, the focus of our nation at this point should be on building a robust healthcare system, and empowering our healthcare practitioners with all they need, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)”.
