World Cup FOMO Builds, Accolades You Need To Know

The fever of world cup is on and you know what exactly happens when this season is on. The world is taken by storm as people show support for their favourite teams tusslling it out for the ultimate ‘all gold’ trophy. Those who were at Kampala Serena Hotel a few months ago had yet another chance to view it.

Thursday the 14th of June is D-Day as Russia the host of the 2018 edition take on Saudi Arabia on at 5 PM but leaving the matches alone, did you know that serious accolades await the best player, goalkeeper and top scorer? If you know we are sure you are now saying “that is obvious” but believe us there are those who still don’t know.

The Golden Boot goes to the top scorer, golden ball to the best player where as the golden glove goes to the best goal keeper. For the past three World Cup tournaments that is 2006, 2010, 2014, the world has seen top players win these awards.

Germany’s Miroslav Klose,Thomas Muller and Colombia’s James Rodriguez won the golden boot in 2006, 2010 and 2014 respectively where as France’s Zinedine Zidane, Uruguay’s Diego Forlan and Argentina’s Lionel Messi won golden ball in the same order.

As for the golden glove, Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon emerged the best goalker in 2006 followed by Spain’s Iker Casillas in 2010 and lastly Manuel Neuer from Germany.
