Young and talented upcoming singer Danra is not one to be put down easily. The energetic singer says she is here to make her mark and stay in the game. This was while premiering the video of her latest project ‘Gundeze’ in which she features the smooth-riding Allan Toniks.
Even yesterday’s heavy afternoon downpour could not dampen her mood as she shared her music journey stories with some of the invited journalists who also braved the chili afternoon to go and witness the unveiling of the new song in Atmosphere Lounge Kololo.
Clad in fitting white top and green shorts, the light-skinned singer confidently said she is back to find a place among the best after a break she had taken away from the music industry. Although the timing of her return looks awkward – considering the current situation brought about by the Covi-19 pandemic, Danra says she couldn’t wait any longer because “everything was already set even before the lockdown”.
This included the release of the audio done by Wolves Records in conjunction with PK Promotions, as well as shooting of the video by PEAK Film Production that was directed by JayBoy.
Gundeze, despite being a love song, has some Ragga vibes that Danra effortlessly fuses with Toniks’ soft Afrobeat flow against a backdrop of hard dancehall beats with distinct sound that carries East African UTAKE influences.
The video is characterized by energetic dance moves and colorful costumes, tinted hairstyles, and braids of gangster-like street fashion. A lot of visual enhancement and the post-shooting effect is created by the use of artificial smoke; though Danra is also seen holding onto a cigarette and puffing away in some of the scenes.
